Why this page exists: Some websites became so familiar through repeated use that bookmarking them seemed unnecessary. Others disappeared into lost bookmark files or browser history that no longer went back far enough. Then, months or years later, I would remember how useful they had been — but not quite what they were called — and the hunt would begin again. This is partly a personal, hand-curated directory, and partly an external memory for those useful corners of the web. Older favourites are reviewed from time to time; dead ends are quietly removed.
