Re: GRB 080303A - NOT!

Author: SMacB | Posted: 2008-03-08 18:30:32 UTC

Well, it would seem that I did not see a visible afterglow to GRB 080303A. However a second observation, again using GRAS 15 in Australia (08-Mar-2008 15:30:29 - 15:40:22 UTC), 1 x 120 sec luminance bin 1, shows that it has MOVED  :o
There is also a second object with some apparent motion too. In this GIF animation I have marked the primary subject with a red arrow, and the secondary subject with a green arrow.

The fuzzy halo around the primary subject is intriguing. A comet? I have been unable, so far, to unearth any data, but will keep looking......
Using the SN Candidate Minor-Planet Checker returned no results.
I shall continue to monitor this situation closely.
Tentatively named comet MacDonald-Brown/080303  ;D
