Comet d'Arrest 6P
Thought I'd have a look at this one before it goes too faint to observe. Taken with G15 between 16:08:03 and 16:38:15 UTC 05 Aug 2008.
6P/d'Arrest is a periodic comet in our Solar System, orbiting between Mars and Jupiter. It passes 53 Gm from the Earth, about a third of the Earth-Sun distance, on August 9, 2008.
PERIODIC COMET D'ARREST = COMET LA HIRE (1678)
RA 20:00:56.20 Dec -08:25:57.0, AIRMASS = 1.36087699393E+000 to 1.49467604767E+000.
Doesn't quite look as it did in Starry Night.....
and not lined up as well as I'd like....
Below is a GIF animation of the 4 images I took. The first two were 120 sec subs, the second two were 300 sec subs (hence the slight elongation), using a V filter.
