NGC 7000 (North American Nebula)

A Bradford Robotic Telescope image of NGC 7000, The North American Nebula, so called because of it's resemblance to said continent. It is quite uncanny! :o


...and for comparison...Not sure what happened to Alaska tho'...


A vast cloud of interstellar hydrogen, ionised (Hii) by a nearby star, possibly Deneb, which would make it some 1800 Ly from Earth and 100 Ly across.
