IC 443 & SH2-249

Author: SMacB | Posted: 2009-12-13 18:37:05 UTC

Emission Nebulae in Gemini.
Taken using G12. 14 Nov 2009, 07:48:53 - 09:23:24 UTC
4 ea Ha, Green, Blue filters - 300 sec exposures + 4 Lum 180 sec exposures.

I was also imaging the asteroid 128 Nemesis at the same time,as it passed through the field. It can just be detected too in this colour image.

There is a region of unusual nebulosity in my colour image that I have not seen in other images or the likes of Sky-Map.org. If not an artifact, it looks like there's something happening around the vicinity of the star USNO J0621114+224823. A shame the image is a month old now, but something to follow up real soon I think.....
<ed>.....Ok, I see it now. I think it's a lens flare from the very bright star to the bottom left of the image, Tejat Posterior (a Supergiant star)......or is it????
